How do you handle a vertical 45 degree outside corner?

That header flashing that you used to cover the bottom layer of vinyl siding, (The piece colored maroon), What is that product called in how can I purchase it? Everything I'm finding is called something similar to Deck ledger flashing cap and the width of the ledge is an inch and a half to cover a 2-in wide board. I can't find anything small enough to cover just j-channel.

Might want to update this video, its a little disturbing that the shutter falls away from the wall at the end and the helper needs to hold his hand on it until the video is over. Issue is that the installer over drilled the hole for the plastic connector at the bottom all the way into the sheathing, not just the vinyl.

I just got my replacement windows under warranty. Got some pointers. 1. When removing the glazing bead fully disengauge the firs 2 inches of the glazing bead before moving down. 2. Make sure you have a gasket. My replacement didnt have a pre installed gasket. Make sure you habe a new one before starting. Removing the old gasket is brittle.

very useful -- Got some leaking windows. PlyGem shipped just the glass. After watching this video I was able to replace the windows myself. Easy Peasy.

I build 5/4 gates with PVC reverse board one side has wood grain back side is flat. I spray primer coat Sherwin williams PVC plastic rattle cans then paint with matching wall paint. Use SS screws fill with body putty mix sand and prime and finish.. So far 18 gates later the only problem is these lead to the backyards that are all walled in around the house. Trash barrels' get pushed or dragged through the gate and get a little banged up. Just a little touch up will do. you can by a gal. of the pvc primer have it color matched about $78.00 gal. I get about $850 + per door 36 in x 6 ft height with new hinges and latch... Hardest part is the old door of 3 crap layers wood and nails cutting it down an trashing it.

Thank gosh I found out they actually sell this product, had these windows ordered with the intention of using Hardie plank siding but I didn’t know enough about the windows and the integrated j channel

I was hoping you explain when to use vinyl vs steel or aluminum starter.

I want to start with vinyl board and batten 40" up then transition to vinyl double 4 siding. What do I use for that transition?

Another tip on re-installing the glazing strips. When pushing the glazing strips back into the channel, it's difficult to know when they're fully seated. So use a small, short piece of wood, like 2 inches off a 1x2, and gently tap the strip with a rubber mallet. You'll hear the strip "snap" into place, even in those areas where it appeared to be flush.

A small flathead screwdriver works best for detaching the bead strip. Gently push the tip of the screwdriver into the crack, and gently push the screwdriver handle toward the window frame and it pops right out. It's the combined pressure of the screwdriver tip pushing that strip in and out.

I appreciate the video guys but that closed off corner post looked horrendous. So plan B is it because the end of the siding just sits in there unsupported anyway. Thanks again

You described the lap joints incorrectly for the order they were shown. He displayed the ship lap first and you were saying it was the scarf joint.

Ok so how do you do this where existing siding already installed. We want to place a non freezable hose bib where none existed.

The video was very helpful but he left out that the stationary window on the top was siliconed in and needed to be cut under the the vinyl trim from the outside of the window to break the silicone seal. UGH!!! Second floor window!

Well, the video was very useful in explaining how to remove and replace the glazing bead. BUT, if you are replacing the top Ply Gem 1500 glass then you need more information. Removing the bottom tilt-in sash entirely will make the job easier (there is a video on how to do this - very easy). After removing the glazing bead then the top glass WILL come out with very little pressure from the outside. The old glass has a rubber seal that is glued to the glass. It won't cause any problems when removing the glass BUT the new glass did not come with any seal installed. So I put a light bead of silicone sealer on the window frame before installing the new glass. Not an ideal solution. The new glass should have come with the rubber seal installed. Now, make sure all the small spacers around the opening stay in place. I placed the bottom of the new glass in the frame first and then tilted the rest of the glass in place. Make sure the little spacers remain in place. Now reinstall the glazing bead as described in the video.

I know that system just relies on the rubber seal….. I’d still run a bead of silicone before setting the window

Do you need to subtract some from your measurement to get a gap between the corner and the panel. You measured from the corner to the eight or zero. Am I supposed to subtract anything for that gap?
